Level design here was done in layers and some were randomly swapped in and out. I had the priveledge of designing a few of the later levels in the game from scratch. We used BioWare's Levelshop software to toy with initial level geometry in a very unique way that would let us instantly export 2D drawings to 3D and generate navigation mesh so that we could iterate on level size and flow while the investment was still minimal.
